Since 1999, self-taught artist Jennifer Doheny has been creating greeting cards for her card line, URBAN BIRD DESIGNS. Working from her studio, located in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, OR, Jennifer applies her own mixed media process to the creation of original cards and prints. A unique combination of elements: old book pages, wax and dye, colored pencil and ink are meticulously drawn, cut, and artfully assembled, producing the unique quality of each URBAN BIRD Design.

URBAN BIRD PUBLISHING, has taken flight and now offers signed digital pigment prints known as giclée.

A Day In The Studio of An Urban Bird

“I named my business URBAN BIRD DESIGNS to show my gratitude to the birds, bugs, squirrels and other wildlife that live with us in the city. The birds and their songs offer me a moment to connect with the natural world in my busy, noisy city life. It is in these moments that I find theinspiration to create.

Every second is an opportunity to create something, a great meal, a laugh, music, a loving moment, or even a peaceful thought. These thoughts and creations are shaping the world at every moment and carry great power. I believe in the mantra you'll find on the back of all my cards: THOUGHTS CREATE.

My hope is that we all use our thoughts to envision a peaceful, healthy planet at peace in our universe. As another one of my cards states: EARTH IS ONE NEIGHBORHOOD.”
