Urban Bird Designs, in business since 1999, features the artwork of self-taught artist Jennifer Doheny. She works out of a studio in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Ore., where she creates new designs using her own unique mixed media process combining old book pages, wax, dye, colored pencil and ink. Design elements are carefully cut and assembled for cards and prints.

A Day In The Studio of An Urban Bird
I named my business Urban Bird Designs to show my gratitude to the birds, bugs, squirrels and other wild life that live with us in the city. The birds and their songs offer me a moment to connect with the natural world in my busy, noisy city life. It is in these moments that I find the space to create.
Every second is an opportunity to create something, a great meal, a laugh, music, a loving moment, or even a peaceful thought. These thoughts and creations are shaping the world at every moment and carry great power. I believe in the mantra you'll find on the back of all my cards: THOUGHTS CREATE.
My hope is that we all use our thoughts to envision a peaceful, healthy planet at peace in our universe. As another one of my cards states: EARTH IS ONE NEIGHBORHOOD. |
